LOREEN SPREADS SWEDISH EUPHORIA
It would seem as though Euphoria is the preferred state of mind of a massive audience. As all votes were counted, it was clear that Loreen was undoubtedly the queen of the evening and the 2012 Eurovision Song Contest winner. Never before has 12 points been given to one country by so many juries, and the impact was both direct and heavy: Loreen rocketed straight into no1 on iTunes charts all across Europe: UK, Germany, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Greece, Ireland, Luxembourg, Holland, Norway, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland.
Divine singer Loreen has also had a massive success in her native country since the breathtaking performance was first seen on Swedish television in February. Not only did she set a new voting record, she also got full score from the International Jury and as the smash hit went to radio, it soared straight into number one in the airplay chart and has stayed there since – an impressive eleven consecutive weeks. Euphoria topped the Swedish sales charts for 6 consecutive weeks and has reached # 1 in Norway, Finland and top 10 in Denmark, Lithuania and Estonia.
Euphoria is the bestselling single in 2012 – surpassing Avicii’s Levels – and it remains safely in the Nordic charts. In Sweden, Euphoria is certified 5 x platinum already.
YouTube shows amazing statistics with millions of views on various clips, including Loreen’s debut single My Heart Is Refusing Me, which spent a total of 42 weeks in the iTunes charts, and is still regularly re-appearing.
Even Perez Hilton, the famous American blogger, has been captivated by the ethereal singer.
Loreen however is an artist who is much more than a runaway hit single. Needless to say, she masterminds all her own performances to the very smallest detail. Of Moroccan-Berber descent, she grew up in the Swedish countryside, and learned to play the piano by imitating Michael Nyman’s minimalistic The Piano OST.
“I need to make music that is connected to my soul”, she states.
Loreen is currently in the studio focusing on her upcoming album – an album that promises to meld the atmospherics of Jamie Woon with the punch of Swedish songwriting.
Following her appearance at the ESC 2012 in Baku, Loreen will parallel to her Swedish tour plans be available for promotions including TV appearances throughout the summer. |
